THis sample was taken by my friends Anna and Marcus about 1500 miles from any land in the middle of the pacific ocean. The "gyre" is a plastic soup roughly the size of the US that is floating in the pacific, killing wildlife and destroying ecosystems. What you can't see as well in this video are the teeny plastic particles that are generally injested by fish, which are eaten by other fish, which are eaten by us. So when you look at this sample, you're looking at your dinner.
