The dodo was made extinct in the 17th century, by mans direct and indirect activities….but I have brought the dodo back to life.
I think I can safely say that the whole of the world will be interested in this. I have been working on this my whole life, it's been my passion since I was a small boy and this time I have got it right.
When I was 11 I was given the feather of a Dodo by my father who was a curator at a university. The dead dodo was on display and of course what my father did would probably be frowned upon.
His intention was to use the DNA and cells from the feather to implant into a chicken and for the chicken to then lay an egg that would effectively be a dodo.
My father and I spent many many years, decades infact, trying to achieve this goal…..we have had near misses, but this time its right. We have had a number of still births, but this clutch has several dodo embryos live and well and 3-4 weeks from hatching.
If you want to witness this monumentous occasion keep watching, we are going to post regular films of the eggs developing and then of course the dodo/s hatching!
